The Longest Night
by Nicholas Watts

The Salzburg Team Porsche 917 LH of
Vic Elford/Kurt Ahrens is depicted battling the similar Martini Racing “Long Tail” of Gerard Larrousse/Willy Kauhsen at dusk in what was the wettest Le Mans for many years. Although leading the race and with Vic Elford becoming the first driver ever at an average of over 150 mph at the Sarthe, the white unforgiving “Long Heck” was eventually forced into retirement.

The #3 car eventually finished in second position behind the winning 917K of Richard Attwood and Hans Herrmann shown in the study to the left. Portrayed in the right hand study is the third placed, class winning Porsche 908 of Rudi Lins and Helmut Marko.

This stunning giclée is a Special Edition commissioned by Vic Elford. It will not be offered for sale anywhere else!

Limited to 75 giclées signed by:
Nicholas Watts and 9 drivers: Vic Elford, Kurt Ahrens, Gerard Larrousse, Willy Kauhsen, Richard Attwood, Hans Herrmann, Rudi Lins,
